The process of nomination for five Lok Sabha seats in Uttarakhand will start on Wednesday. In a novel initiative, the Election Commission has decided to start the practice of online nomination of the papers by the candidates.

Interacting with the media persons at the State secretariat on Wednesday the State's Joint Chief Electoral Officer (JCEO) Namami Bansal said that public notice regarding start of nomination will be pasted at all the headquarters of Returning Officers (ROs) in all the parliamentary constituencies on Wednesday.  She said that barring public holidays, the process of nominations will continue from 11 AM to 3 PM on all working days till March 27. She said that the commission has prepared a check list of the documents for the candidates which includes Form A, Form B, affidavit and proof of security deposits. The candidates can also submit their nomination forms online on suvidha.eci.gov.in portal. The candidates will have to take a print out of the nomination form and submit a signed copy in the office of RO compulsorily before the last date of nomination process.

Bansal said that permission for more than three vehicles will not be given within a radius of 100 metres of the RO office concerned.

The JCEO further informed that banners and posters have been removed from about 94,000 sites. She added that about 3,066 cases of violation of model code of conduct have been disposed of in the state with the help of cVIGIL app. Bansal said that 10,900 licensed weapons have been seized in the state and the process is continuing.
