Police arrest bootlegger who was wanted in many burglary cases

Kolar police have nabbed a bootlegger who was also involved in around a dozen burglary cases; 54 liters of country made liquor was seized from the accused.

In view of the Lok Sabha, to curb illegal liquor smuggling, drug smuggling senior officials have directed to take action through a campaign.

On April 5 based on the information Kolar police arrested a person having a vehicle without registration number. He was caught selling bottles of illegal country liquor, who was identified as Bhim Gond (26) of Abbas Nagar, Kolar Road, Bhopal.

A total of 54 liters of illicit country liquor worth Rs 21000 and a motorcycle without registration number were seized from the possession of the accused and the police took possession and registered a case under section 34(2) of the Excise Act.

It was found that Bhim Gond was involved in burglary in the past he was enquired regarding illegal liquor and the motorcycle was reported stolen from Kolar area, on verification of which it was found to be stolen from Kolar and a case was registered under  section 457,380 of the IPC.

During the investigation Kolar police checked footage obtained in some of the theft cases, after matching the suspect's appearance, on interrogating accused Bhim Gond, he revealed  committing other thefts, due to which, after obtaining police remand on interrogating the accused he admitted to commit theft in the Kolar area during November 2023 to March 2024.

As informed by the accused, crime numbers 970/23, 951/23, 10/24, 40/24, 48/24, 83/24, 119/24, 122/24, 210/24, 267/ of Police Station Kolar Road, Bhopal were registered. In 24 Section 457,380 IPC cases, stolen gold and silver jewellery, 3 motorcycles and 1 scooter were recovered.

Accused Bhim Gond has been accused of committing theft under crime number 970/23, 10/24, 40/24 section 457,380 of Indian Penal Code along with his partner Sonu Jatav, the search for accused Sonu Jatav is going on. In the remaining other crimes, accused Bhim  Gond   is said to have committed theft alone.

 During interrogation, the accused Bhim  Gond  revealed that he had sold the Mashrooka of crime number 97/24 and 83/24 to his friends Nilesh Parte and Rohit Uike. Nilesh was caught and the stolen Mashrooka was recovered and he was sent to jail and the interrogation of fellow accused Rohit Uike is going on.
