Sai kicks off BJP campaign in Bastar, Congress lags behind

Thursday, 21 March 2024 | Staff Reporter | DANTEWADA

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister was on an extensive tour of the Bastar region on Wednesday as he kicked off the BJP’s campaign to snatch the tribal seat from the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections.

The BJP has fielded Mahesh Kashyap from Bastar. He has been a ground level worker associated with the Bajrang Dal and the Vishva Hindu Parishad.

Meanwhile, Sai worshipped at the Danteshwari temple in Dantewada and held a public rally there to formally start the poll campaign.

On X, Sai said that with the blessings of the people, the BJPy is going to win all the 11 Lok Sabha constituencies in Chhattisgarh.

The process of nominations in the constituency also started on Wednesday but the Congress is yet to decide its candidate for the high-stake seat.

Although the BJP bagged nine out of 11 seats in 2019, Congress’ Deepak Baij won the Bastar seat.

The Congress bagged two seats from the state in 2019. The other was the Korba Lok Sabha constituency where Jyotsana Mahant won.
