Chhattisgarh Police on Sunday seized 90 kg sandalwood valued at Rs 7.20 lakhs and arrested two persons here for transporting it from Madhya Pradesh.

Jitendra Singh (29) and Motilal Yadav are both from Gaurela Pendra Marwahi (GPM) district, GPM Additional Superintendent of Police Manisha Thakur Rawate said.

The police nabbed them following a tip when the two were looking for customers to sell the sandalwood.

The police intercepted a goods carriage vehicle in Tikarkala village and found the consignment.

After arrest, the two told the police that they stole it from Bhelwa village in Madhya Pradesh to sell it here at higher prices.
