Two top Maoist cadres surrender

Saturday, 16 March 2024 | PNS | MALKANGIRI

Disillusioned with the Maoist ideology, two Area Committee Members (ACM) of the outlawed organisation surrendered in Malkangiri district on Friday.

The surrendered Maoists were identified as Kadti Hura alias Samir and Ganga Kartami alias Ganga.

Both the ultras had joined the Maoist fold in the Kistaram and Konta areas under the South Bastar region in Chhattisgarh in 2001.

As per reports, Samir was promoted to the rank of ACM in 2004 and was given charge of the supply team. He actively participated in many violent incidents.

Similarly, Ganga was promoted to the rank of ACM in 2012. Both Samir and Ganga returned to the mainstream after surrendering before Southern West DIG Charan Singh Meena

In the past five years, more than 22 active Maoist cadres and hundreds of active militias and Maoist sympathisers have surrendered in Malkangiri district.
