UPES Dehradun won the first prize at the inaugural edition of the International Moot Court Competition 2024 held at the Hidaytullah National Law University (HNLU) in Raipur.
The competition drew 40 teams including three international institutions.
Muskan Sethi, Ananya Nandwana and Mukul Khandelwal from the School of Law, UPES Dehradun, won Rs 2 lakh by securing the first position.
The Institute of Law, Nirma University, Ahmedabad, was adjudged the runner-up with a price money of Rs 1,50,000. The team consisted of Aditi Bharadwaj, Kopal Ved and Shashwat Ranjan.
The National Law University, Delhi, won the best memorial award.
Muskan Sethi from UPES Dehradun won the best speaker award while Bhagyashree Tiwari from the National Law University, Jodhpur, won the best researcher award.
Prof Vivekanandan, Vice Chancellor of HNLU, remarked: “The inaugural edition of the moot court event is the beginning of Internationalization of Moots in India and it is all set to become global in the coming years.”
The event saw 120 participants from 40 teams and 80 judges drawn from academica, bar and bench.
The inaugural function had Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Uikey, Vice Chancellor of MNLU Mumbai, as the chief guest.
The final rounds had eminent jurist list Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Pro-Chancellor of IILM, and Distinguished Jurist Professor of HNLU, Prafull Bharat, Advocate General of Chhattisgarh Bharat V. Budholiya, and partner at AZB & Partners, Dr. Uday Shankar, Associate Professor, IIT Kharagpur, and Muralidharan R, Patent and Trademark Attorney, Manu Associates also graced the valedictory ceremony.
