A shedding lace wig should not be a surprising thing because the hair is held in place have a hand-tied, single knot or double knot. Sassy Secret has a secret to minimizing the shedding; a technique where small amounts of glue are infused with the knot to enhance its firmness. It does offer some substantial fortitude but does not eliminate the shedding; it primarily will mitigate the chances of know slippage.

A shedding lace wig with eventually have bald patches and thinning of the hair, and much of the problem stems from how you use and take care of the wig. Exercising caution and care when combing, styling and handling the lace wig can significantly alleviate the possibility of shedding. To achieve this, take note the following things:

•    Do not brush the wig when it is wet after washing and conditioning the wig

•    Avoid being too rough when handling the wig especially when washing and combing it.

•    Very greasy or oily hair care products weak the knots

•    Ensure all adhesives are removed from the hairs before washing the wig

•    Do not wash it using hot water.

•    Always comb the wig from tip to root not from the other way around.

If you take note of the above things, you can also prevent hair shedding and the balding of the lace wig with the following maintenance techniques:

1.    Apply a knot sealer on the wig to seal the knots and keep them tied firmly. The sealer comes in a small spray bottle that you apply on the wig when the unit is flipped inside out. Spray it on the lace or mesh allowing it to dry before flipping back the wig to wear it. Resealing should be done after every wash once the wig is dry.

2.    Avoid scratching your scalp through the wig because it will trigger the shedding. When feeling itchy, pat your scalp with your hands. But the discomfort is a sign of a dry scalp, so you should avoid wearing the wig and clean and moisturize your scalp. Use anti-itch shampoo to help reduce the irritation.

3.    When combing the lace wig, use a cushion brush (wig brush) or a wide tooth comb running it from the tip to the roots while holding the hair above; this will help you avoid pulling the hairs off the knots. Always comb the lace wig thoroughly before washing it, and wait until it is dry before you can straighten the strands again.

4.    Avoid using shampoos, hair sprays, spritz and other hair care products that have a high alcohol content because they case the hairs to break and start thinning.

5.    Always check the wig for any glue residue and ensure that all the adhesive is removed to minimize the risk of shedding.

6.    Avoid blow drying the lace wig it will weaken the knots and cause shedding. The best way to dry the wig after washing it is to allow it to air dry. If you are to use the blow dry, then ensure that it is on a cool setting.

7.    If you are to sleep with the wig on, then braid the hair to keep it from getting tangled. Gently comb the hair before you braid it, and then wrap it in a hair scarf. Use satin or silk scarves because they will have no friction with the hairs that may cause some tangles or the strands to break and shed.

Caring For Your lace Wig

The proper care for any full lace wig encompasses a meticulous maintenance routine. From the use of the right products to how you clean it and handle the wig; these factors determine how the lace wig will look and last.

Avoid using the products you get from the drug store and off the supermarket shelves that are not ideal for any hair care regimen.  Many of these products have a harsh chemical composition or high alcohol content that can damage the hairs, and the knots hold the strands in place.

Alcohol makes the hair dry and brittle, and the other chemicals create high alkaline pH content around the strands that cause them to get tangled.

Caution With pH levels In Hair Care Products

Always take note of the pH levels of any hair product you use; this is the least consider element in most products, yet it has a significant impact. Stick to hair care products with a balanced pH ; they offer optimal feel and styling.

The appropriate pH range should be around 4 - 6. Acidic products such as shampoos and conditioners with the right balance will cause the hairs to lie down making them smooth and manageable. As for alkaline product with a pH above 7 makes the hairs to raise and get tangled. The safest products to use are the botanical types because they are pH balanced for the best hair care.
