Durg to host BJP’s ‘Maatru Sammelan’ on Oct 5: Saroj Pandey

On his maiden visit to Durg district, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Amit Shah will participate in party’s State-level Women's Convention titled 'Maatru Sammelan' to be organized at Charoda Dusherra ground on Friday (October 5), said BJP National General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Saroj Pandey on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference here,  she said that around one lakh women would participate in the event.

“BJP has given priority and platform to women, who can along with their family be part of political,social and cultural life and contribute towards welfare of society,” Pandey said.

The BJP has been encouraging participation of women in political arena and ensuring 50 percent reservation in the three-tier panchayats and 33 percent reservation in civic bodies, she said.

“BJP is the lone party which has given reservation for women in the party organization also”, Pandey said.

She further said that under leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and  Chief Minister Raman Singh, record works have been done in last 15 years in Chhattisgarh. “One such example is the Ujjwala Scheme that has provided smoke-free kitchen for women.”

Pandey listed out schemes like smart phone distribution under CG-SKY, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, making women head of family in ration card distribution, two per cent rebate in land registration stamp duty, marriage scheme, bicycle scheme among others have played key role in empowering women of the state. In the State Civil Services exam women can appear till 45 years of age.

Cultural events would also be organized while cultural team dressed in local traditional dresses would accord welcome to National Party Chief.
