Railways is all set to develop the running room at Hatia station as model unit by adding several facilities for its staff including meditation centre, toilet complex and a state of the art kitchen.

Notably, the running room is a home away from home for the loco pilots, assistant loco pilots and the guards as they take rest here when not operating the train.

The Hatia unit is considered one of the best in south eastern division having 66 beds. Railway staffs from TATA, Bandamunda, Rourkela, Adra, Bokaro steel city, Dhanbad and Muri utilize this place to relax.

Senior railway officials including DRM Vijay Kumar Gupta held a workshop on providing additional facilities at the running room on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion Gupta stated a proper resting place for loco pilots is essential as they need to be free from mental stress while running the trains. They play key role in safety of railway passengers and it is essential that they go to duty in relaxed an energetic condition for optimum alertness.

While pointing out that Hatia unit is considered as one of the best in the country, Gupta added that among the facilities to be added at the running room are automatic washing machine, electric iron, air-conditioned rooms, RO water, solar and electric geyser and reading room.

In addition fire fighting system, first aid box, and pest control would be provided for safety and hygiene.

The rooms of the complex would be named after rivers, mountains and waterfalls of the State.
