MlA Umesh Aggarwal appointed as Haryana BJP media-incharge

Friday, 27 April 2018 | PNS | Chandigarh

Gurugram MlA, Umesh Aggarwal, known for his rebellion against his own BJP Government last year, has been appointed as Haryana BJP media-incharge.

The appointment is seen as a move to pacify the rebel MlAs in the party ahead of 2019 parliamentary and assembly polls. The appointment is also significant as many party leaders from south Haryana had earlier alleged of being ignored by the party state leadership.

Haryana BJP chief Subash Barala on Thursday said that the Gurugram MlA has been appointed as state party media-incharge. The previous state party media-incharge Rajiv Jain was appointed as media advisor to Chief Minister Manohar lal on April 6, vacating the post.

Barala said that apart from this, party leader Anurag Bakshi from Gurugram and Renu Bhatia from Faridabad have been appointed as party spokesperson.

Ahead of 2019 polls, the state party unit is likely to witness organizational changes in a bid to end resentment among leaders and strengthen the party.

Notably, Gurugram MlA Umesh Aggarwal had last year made a string of veiled remarks against Chief Minister Manohar lal. Aggarwal was among over a dozen BJP MlAs who had been airing their grievances against the Chief Minister on public platforms and had even stated that the CM was being misinformed and misguided by senior bureaucrats.

The Gurugram MlA had also hit out at the State Government for not acting tough against those “involved in scams” and had sought intervention of the party central leadership to resolve the issues raised by the  disgruntled legislators.

Following the case of Sonepat police booking his two brothers and a nephew along with others allegedly for grabbing land of the complainant last year, the party legislator had also levelled allegations of ‘political conspiracy’ as he had been speaking up against the BJP led State Government in Haryana.

However, the Chief Minister and Umesh Aggarwal had later buried the hatchet after the latter’s associates were reportedly accommodated in the party’s district executive committee last year.
