Private hospitals say ‘no’ to Ayushman Bharat Scheme

Private hospitals in Chhattisgarh have decided not to offer treatment to patients under 'Ayushman Bharat Scheme' of the Central Government.

A decision was taken in this regard by State unit of Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Wednesday in the wake of pending payments under National Health Insurance Scheme.

President, Hospital Board of IMA, Dr Rakesh Gupta informed that in a major decision, the State unit of IMA on Wednesday decided that until the government takes initiative for getting cleared all pending payments of treatment done under National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), the private hospitals will not treat patients under Ayushman Bharat Scheme.

Notably, the Central Government launched the ambitious Ayushman Bharat Scheme under which poor families can undergo treatment of aliments related to liver, heart, cancer, brain tumour among others.

‘Ayushman Bharat Scheme’ provides facilities to poor families for treatment of critical diseases upto Rs 5 lakh. The nationwide scheme was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Jangala in Bastar region of the State.
