Youth shot at over old enmity in Sambalpur

Tuesday, 16 October 2018 | PNS | SAMBALPUR

A 30-year-old youth sustained injuries after being shot at over past enmity at the Budharaja daily market in Sambalpur town on Monday.

The victim was identified as Mantu Podha, a vegetable seller.

Reports said Mantu was hit by a bullet on his left leg after Siria Jena (45), of the locality opened fire at him on broad daylight. While the victim was rushed to the Sadar hospital, the Ainthapalli police have detained Jena for interrogation.

Sources said the murderous attack was a fall out of past enmity as Mantu had slapped the accused for harassing a girl, a month ago.

In order to take revenge, Jena arrived at the market on a bike and tried to shoot Mantu in full public view.

However, the latter had a narrow shave after the bullet hit his leg.
