BJP condemns Ekra Mazjid incident, questions Oppn role

Monday, 08 July 2019 | PNS | Ranchi

The State BJP has attacked Opposition parties for keeping mum on incidents of clashes and vandalism near Ekra Mazjid in a procession taken out by members of a particular community condemning the mob lynching incident at Saraikela.

State BJP spokesperson, Pratul Shahdeo said, ‘The BJP after the Saraikela incident has condemned the mob lynching incident. At the same time the Government acting swiftly has taken action arresting around a dozen persons in connection with mob lynching incident. For BJP which believes in Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas, both Saraikela and Ekra Mazjid incidents are condemnable.”

“But, the role of Opposition after Ekra Mazjid incident raises suspicion. Two days after Ekra Mazjid none of the Opposition parties have raised any question nor bothered to visit the injured persons admitted at hospital,” said Shahdeo.

The BJP spokesperson said that the BJP believes in justice to all while appeasement to none, but the Opposition parties such as Congress, JMM , JVM (P) and RJD politics revolves around appeasement of minorities.

The BJP spokesperson said that on the basis of video footage the police are conducting raids to nab the person involved in vandalism and assault on two youths.

On Friday night, members of a particular community vandalised property and stabbed one Vivek Srivastava with a knife during the course of the protest. Srivastava’s younger brother, Deepak, who was with him at the time of the incident was also beaten up while they crossing the Ekra Mazjid area on their two-wheeler. Vivek Srivastava is admitted at private hospital and his condition is said to stable.
