Candidates from State excel in UPSC exam

Over 20 candidates from Jharkhand cleared the prestigious Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) – Civil Services examination 2018, thus contributing to the long list of civil servants from Jharkhand.

Deepak Kumar Dubey of Ranchi scored 46th position in the examination thus scoring the maximum among candidates from the State.

Anya Das of Jamshedpur bagged the 60th rank followed by Aditya Goyal of Ranchi. Among the others who scored within 100 ranks were Jay Shivani with 81st and Amit Kumar with 91st position, both from Dhanbad.

Aditya Goyal, an alumnus of Delhi Public School Ranchi, who bagged the third rank in State and 69th in the country, was also the topper of science stream in class 12, in the year 2012, with 97.4 per cent marks.

This year, apart from Goyal, three other students of DPS Ranchi cracked the prestigious examination. Aanchal Shrivastava, who had completed her class 10 from the school, bagged the 110th rank while Shivashish Kumar who pursued class 12 from DPS was at the 368th position.

K Lalith Rao of 2013 Commerce batch, secured 626th position in UPSC. He said, “I got a very conducive, inclusive and supportive environment for pursuing academics in the school, which helped me to progress towards my goal without hindrance despite being visually impaired. I always had a dedication and will to serve the people of this great country. Especially, the downtrodden and those who are in dire need of help.”

In 2017, two alumni of DPS cleared the examination. Principal, Ram Singh congratulated all the former students. He said that the success rate is increasing every year and achievements like these act as a motivation for other students of DPS.

Debraj Das, presently working at Mecon Ltd in the office of director commercial, bagged the 529th rank in the examination. A graduate in mechanical engineering from IIT Kharagpur, Das cleared the examination in his third attempt by self study.

Shubhendu Bhushan Verma and Rahul Dubey of Garhwa district bagged the 120th and 365th ranks, respectively, in the civil services examinations.

This was second attempt for Shubhendu, son of Shailendra Kumar Verma and Kalawanti Verma and a resident of Sihajna Mohalla of the town. He completed his matriculation examination in 2008 from RK Public School. In 2011, he had cleared IIT with 227th rank across country and completed engineering from IIT Kanpur, before taking up a job in a private company.

He informed that it was his desire to become an IAS office and serve the country since childhood.

Another aspirant, Rahul Dubey, a native of Banpurwa village also cleared the examination with 365th rank. He was working as a software engineer in USA before he decided to quit his job and prepare for the UPSC examination.

Other districts from where aspirants cleared the examination were Dumka, Hazaribahg, Madhupur and Palamu.
