The school education and literacy department, on Wednesday, launched a mobile application for Mukhyamantri Swachcha Vidyalaya Award, wherein schools, both government and private, can nominate themselves for the award.
The App was launched by department secretary AP Singh and on the occasion, an orientation programme for all the district education officers, district superintendents of education and other officers was held at project building to inform them about technicalities of the awards.
Director of Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC), Uma Shankar Singh said, "In 2016-17, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) started an initiative of Swachcha Vidyalaya Awards in which three government schools for Jharkhand won award for cleanliness. Unfortunately the awards were discontinued later."
He added, "As this award led to developing healthy and hygienic habits among the school administration and students, we thought that it should not be discontinued. So we requested the Chief Minister to organize similar award at State level."
The CM approved of the project and Mukhyamnatri Swachcha Vidyalaya Award was launched by him around six months ago.
For the last three months, the department was getting the app developed for the competition by the same company which developed the app for MHRD.
The nominations for the award will be started from September 1 and will continue till September 15, when the schools will also be observing Swachchta Pakhwara (cleanliness fortnight).
The app has a total of 39 parameters like hand wash practices, hygiene, garbage disposal, clean toilets and much more.
The schools have to log into the app, nominate themselves for the award and do a self assessment on all these 39 parameters.
"Once the nomination is completed, a third party verification will be done by a team of the education department following which schools will be ranked from one star to five star," Singh said.
The schools falling in the category of five and four stars will be given prize money ranging from Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 50,0000.
