Based on a tip-off, the Giridih police on Wednesday busted a cyber criminal gang and arrested six of its members from different parts of Giridih.

The gang of 8-10 was involved in purchasing costly items through online shopping by using bank accounts of various people, said Dy SP Cyber cell Sandip Suman.

According to police the six accused have been identified as Manoj Kumar Mandal,Manik Kumar Mandal,Vikash Kumar Mandal,Rikesh Kumar Mandal,Raja Ranjit,and Gonik Mandal.They are belonging to different police stations of Giridih.While few other cyber criminals managed to fled from the spot.

The police also seized 12 mobiles, one Bolero jeep, 3 debit cards,3 bikes and other documents related to banks from the accused.

Recently when various police stations of Giridih got the complaints that someone has sneaked into the accounts of different people. SP Giridih SK Jha instructed all police stations and asked them their officer-in charge acting promptly and solves the case.

Dy SP (Cyber) Sandip Suman said in their mid 25s, the accused used to make fake verification call to people posing as staffers of a bank to get the details of their debit and credit cards.

Disclosing the modus operandi of the accused, the DY SP said that the accused used to call the debit and credit card holders on the pretest of solving various technical problems related to the cards or telling them that their cards could be blocked if they did not share their details.

They could have truncation of several thousand of rupees from different account no of the different people of Giridih, the DySP further added.

The Cyber Dy SP Sandip Suman,Officer-in Charge Sahdeo Prasad of Cyber police station alongwith his team arrested the criminals.
