In order to keep locations of municipal garbage bins clean and work for beautification of the city, officials of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) have started an initiative to cover the big and small garbage bins with a screen displaying a slogan to promote cleanliness.
Municipal commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey has urged the public to take part in the initiative and sponsor more such screens to keep the city clean and beautiful.This task is being done under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sponsorship. Out of about 100 garbage bins in the city, four were covered in Patelnagar, Kanwali Road, Raja Road and Lakkhibagh on Monday.Pandey said, “This is being done to not only clean the city but also to make the sites holding garbage bins presentable. The screens will ensure that the garbage does not spread beyond the covered point.
Of the 100 garbage bins we have, more than 10 will be covered in the next couple of days.
This is also to aware people for keeping their nearby area clean. We are also talking to some banks like HDFC, ICICI and IndusInd Bank to sponsor such screens. This will be done in all the 100 garbage bins within 15 to 20 days.''
