Governor Droupadi Murmu on Thursday said that the Tribal and Regional Language (TRL) Department of Ranchi University (RU) must have separate departments for each prominent triballanguage.
In order to improve the quality of education at each of these departments, the university must recruit nine professors, 18 associate professors and 18 assistant professors, she added.
At present, a total of nine tribal languages are taught in the TRL department of RU. The most prominent languages taught here include Mundari, Santhali, Kurukh, Kurmali, Kortha and Panchpargania.
Addressing a high level meeting with senior bureaucrats at Raj Bhawan, Murmu also said that B.Ed colleges in Jharkhand must construct girls’ hostels since the strength of women students was higher in these colleges.
In a bid to instill the feeling of patriotism and spread awareness about the life and teachings of freedom fighters, the gardens at Raj Bhawan must be named after freedom fighters, Murmu said.
She added that the gardens must also showcase texts about the life of the freedom fighters and how they contributed towards India’s freedom.
Chief Secretary Sudhir Tripathi, who was a part of the meeting, said that necessary actions must be taken at the earliest to resolve all land related disputes of the five universities and colleges affiliated to them in the state.
