In a governing body meeting with Unified Traffic and Transportation Infrastructure (Planning & Engineering) Center (UTTIPEC), Lieutenant Governor and Delhi Development vice-chairman Anil Baijal asked to implement Multi-Modal Integration (MMI) plans at metro stations to ensure seamless transition of commuters between various modes.
Notably, UTTIPEC has approved conceptual Multi-Modal Integration (MMI) plans for 60 DMRC Phase-III metro stations and 10 MMI plans for existing metro stations (Phase I and Phase II) during last 4 years.
According to DDA official, MMI is planning of the immediate zone around metro stations to integrate Inter State Bus Terminals, Local Bus Stand, feeder buses and IPT Modes, wherever feasible it also includes approach roads, pedestrian walkways, parking areas for various modes including feeder buses/ Inter-mediary Para transit (Auto, Shuttle bus, e-Rickshaw)/ Non- Motorised Transit/ private modes and adequate public conveniences etc. MMI helps in improving the last mile connectivity and unhindered traffic around metro stations.
During the meeting UTTIPEC made detailed presentation on the status of implementation of MMI plans by executing agencies (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Public works Department (PWD) on the basis of site inspection of Kashmiri Gate , Nehru Enclave , Nehru Place , South Campus (Dhaula Kuan) and Moti Bagh, Mayur vihar Pahse - I Metro stations.
