Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad ‘Ravan’ on Wednesday accused Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati of weakening the social justice crusade taken up by her mentor Kanshi Ram.
Reacting to Mayawati’s decision to have no truck with anyone, including Samajwadi Party, and going it alone in all future polls, Ravan said that by breaking relations with the Samajwadi Party, Mayawati had not done justice with the Dalits and downtrodden as her move would weaken the fight for social justice taken by the BSP founder Kanshi Ram. He said that Mayawati was not even following the path shown by her mentor.
Ravan launched the attack on BSP supremo while talking to media persons in Pilibhit on Wednesday.
He further said that the leaders associated with the movement started by Kanshi Ram were happy with the coming together of Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party, hoping that now more and better welfare of the Dalit community could be ensured, but Mayawati had upset all the leaders by disassociating herself from the ‘mahagathbandhan’.
The Bhim Army chief also accused Mayawati of promoting her own family members in her party and cited how her brother Anand Kumar and nephew Akash Anand had been appointed on key organisational posts by the BSP chief.
He said until the interests of the poor and downtrodden section of society were not kept in the fore by the BSP, the dreams of Kanshi Ram would never be fulfilled.
On fighting the next Uttar Pradesh Assembly election in 2022, Ravan said he had not yet given any thought on future polls.
