Opposition dubs BJP manifesto as jumlas

Tuesday, 09 April 2019 | PNS | Ranchi

Opposition parties including Congress today slammed the BJP manifesto saying that the BJP government at the center had failed to mention anything on ‘employment and jobs’. The Congress State president Ajoy Kumar claimed that Congress manifesto is much focus as it has promised to fill 20 lakh government jobs by 2020.

Dubbing the BJP manifesto as Jumla (gimmick), Ajoy Kumar said, “The BJP manifesto talks about doubling the farmers income by 2022, but in last five years the BJP government had not done anything concrete for farmers development.”

The Ashok Dalwai committee report had stated that for doubling farmers income the agriculture growth rate should be around 10.4 per cent, however, at present the agriculture growth rate is around  3.7 to 3.8 per cent.

In 2016, the Centre had constituted the Dalwai committee to recommend measures required to fulfill the target after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced to double farmers’ income in six years.

The Congress State president said Finance Minister Arun Jaitley talks about India becoming world third biggest economy in 2030-31, but the minister should understand that the tenure of the government is five years.

The Congress State president who in last general election lost to BJP Vidyut Varun Mahto from Jamshedpur said that the BJP manifesto has nothing to say on women empowerment, but as promised by Congress president Rahul Gandhi in the Congress manifesto 33 per cent reservation will be given to women and the bill will be passed in the parliament first session.

Echoing the views of Congress president, former chief minister Babulal Marandi’s party JVM spokesperson Yogendra Pratap said, “The BJP manifesto is fresh set of jumlas without telling the country what is the fate of 2014 promise. “ Pratap said, “Despite being in full majority for last five years the government has done nothing. Some of the points of the manifesto such as abolition of Article 370 from constitution, construction of Ram Temple and other are set of old promises of BJP.”

The JVM leader also questioned BJP government on bringing back black money, depositing Rs 15 lakh in the account of everyone, creation of two crore jobs every year, Smart City and Aadharsh Gram Yojana among others.
