Rizvi welcomes Sunni Waqf Board decision  on Ayodhya issue

Uttar Pradesh Central Shia Waqf Board chairman Waseem Rizvi welcomed the decision of Sunni Central Waqf Board to drop its claim over the disputed 2.27 acre land at Ayodhya.
“Better late than never, at last good sense  prevailed over the leadership of Sunni Central Waqf Board and they filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court to withdraw their claim on the disputed land thus paving the way for construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya,” Rizvi said in Lucknow on Wednesday.
“UP Central Shia Waqf Board has already filed such affidavit in Supreme Court but Sunni Waqf Board wavered to take a final call. Though delayed, Shia Waqf Board appreciates the decision,” Rizvi said.
Talking to reporters on Wednesday, Rizvi, however, questioned the conditions laid down by the Sunni Waqf Board for withdrawing their claim on the disputed land.
“Entire world is waiting for a Ram temple and placing condition for the withdrawal of claim is not justified,” he said.
The Shia Waqf Board chief said that if the Supreme Court verdict was on the lines of Allahabad High Court which divided the disputed land into three parts, then Prime Minister Narendra Modi should bring a Bill in Parliament for the construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Vinay Katiyar alleged that the move of Sunni Waqf Board was an effort to scuttle the case at the last moment.  “The Sunni Waqf Board wants the case to continue after the tenure of the present Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi ends and the case is referred to a new bench. Hence, they have conspired to withdraw the case on the last day of the hearing,” Katiyar commented before the media.
The CJI is retiring on November 17 next.
