A two-member team of Sundargarh police along with brother of a trafficked girl of Sundargarh went to Delhi on Monday for rescuing her from there. The girl had called his brother from an unknown number about five days back and was crying for her rescue.
Sources said the 22-year-old tribal girl of a local village under Kinjirikela police station reportedly was working at a shop in Sundargarh for last three years. The girl used to visit her native village in regular interval, but in the mean time a group of brokers had allegedly managed to take her to Delhi, about a week back, promising her to engage in a suitable job. On July 31, the brother of the girl received a phone call from an unknown number.
The caller was her sister, who informed him that she has been brought to Delhi on promise of job, where she feared that a plan was on to sell her off to someone.
"While I received the call, my sister was crying and told me to rescue her," the brother of girl, said. Before, further narrating about her plight, the phone was disconnected and repeated attempt to contact on that number was not possible, since the phone was found switched off. Her brother, finding no other alternative, lodged an FIR in Sundargarh town police station on August 1.
On the direction of the Sundargarh SP, a two-member team led by Town police station Sub Inspector LK Pradhan departed for Delhi on Monday along with the brother of trafficked girl to rescue her from there.
“Our effort is on to track the location of the girl to rescue her,” said IIC Pradhan.
