The South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and Public Works Department (PWD) have joined hands to lift Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste from PWD roads and stretches.
A list in this regard is also prepared and jurisdiction has also been finalised, a senior SDMC official said.
The official also said the civic body in order to contain pollution has inspected 727 numbers of sites and issued 669 challans amounting to Rs 7, 70,000 against the violators.
The south Corporation conducted a drive on Monday in all four zones to check violations such as burning waste, rubber, plastic and construction activities.
The North Delhi Municipal Corporation has also issued 579 challans in last three days for various violations including for emitting dust from construction activities, dumping of 'Construction and Demolition' waste in open and burning garbage.
A senior North Corporation official said that in order to combat increasing level of air pollution in the city, 139 challans were issued for burning garbage in the open, 133 challans for emission from construction activities, 138 for dust pollution, and 109 for dumping malba and also imposed a penalty of Rs 15, 50,000 for related violations
