Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) announced its candidates from the five parliamentary constituencies here on Sunday. Expressing the need for the development of Uttarakhand, party president Diwakar Bhatt stated that the public should see and give a chance to the party that is responsible for the formation of the state.

He informed that the party is fielding Shanti Prasad Bhatt from the Garhwal constituency while DD Sharma will file nomination from Tehri, Surendra Kumar Upadhyay will file nomination from Haridwar, Vijay Pal will file nomination from Nainital-Udham Singh Nagar and KL Arya will file nomination from Almora-Pithoragarh constituency. Bhatt further informed that the party has also formed five management committees for the campaign of the candidates in the five constituencies.

Addressing the media in the press conference Bhatt said, “The main issues related to our state Uttarakhand have not been considered seriously by successive state governments. Government schools are getting closed in the rural areas, polytechnic and such other institutes are losing their value. Migration is another big problem of the state with once thriving villages with hundreds of residents in the past now swiftly deteriorating into ghost villages. These are some issues which should be taken up by our candidates contesting the election.”

Referring to BJP and Congress, Bhatt said, “Both the national parties have governed the state for last 20 years but even after that none is aware of the main issues of our land. I want to keep my point in front of the public that it’s time to change the doctors who have been treating the state so far. Now it’s time to give a chance to us as we have built a house (Uttarakhand) from scratch.”
