Eminent anthropologist and former Sambalpur University Vice-Chancellor Lakshman Kumar Mahapatra passed away on Monday morning. He was 91.
His wife Kiranprava predeceased him last year. He is survived by daughter Sheela and son Sujit, who is founder of the Bhubaneswar-based Bakul Foundation.
As the Head of the Department of Anthropology, Utkal University, he had introduced teaching of South East Asia as a regular course.
