CM to flag off spl train with 1500 labourers for BRO

Chief Minister Hemant Soren will flag off a special train carrying 1,500 workers to be engaged in road construction works in the bordering areas of the country by the Border Road Organisation from Dumka on Friday. In this connection, Additional Director General of Border Road Organization Anil Kumar held a meet with the CM at the Jharkhand Ministry on Thursday. He informed the Chief Minister about the activities of BRO.

An MoU will be signed by the BRO officials and Dumka district administration before the workers leave the special train from Dumka district. BRO DGP Anil Kumar informed that permission has been sought from the Ministry of Defence of the Central Government to make an MoU between BRO and Jharkhand Labour Department. After approval of the Ministry of Defence, the process of MoU will be completed so that the Labour Department can provide proper support to the Border Road Organization in this work and there is no violation of labour laws.

Soren told the ADG that the provisions of labour laws should be followed in the recruitment of workers. “Full transparency should be exercised in their appointment and there should be no role of middlemen in this. No carelessness should be there in the interest of workers,” he said.

The CM said that the workers of Jharkhand should be ensured timely remittance of wages to their bank account every month under the provisions of labour laws. Since these workers or laborers do road construction work in difficult areas, their safety should also be taken care of, he said.

The BRO ADG told the Chief Minister that the workers of the State have been making valuable contributions since the beginning in the road construction work in the border areas of the country. The work of the workers here has always been appreciated by the BRO. The BRO has taken all appropriate steps for their safety, wages and welfare of the the workers who are going for the road construction work in the border areas of the country.

During the meeting Principal Secretary to the Chief-cum-Principal Secretary, Labour, Planning and Training Department Rajiv Arun Ekka was also present.

Meanwhile, a delegation of MECON officials met CM here on Thursday. Vivek Kapila, Senior General Manager Electricity, MECON, told the CM that MECON is currently undertaking door-to-door power, urban sub-station strengthening work and fiber cable laying in 11 districts of the State so that the Mukhiyas can also make video conferencing and inform the Central and State government about the activities of their panchayat.

The officials of MECON urged the CM that in addition to these works, the State Government should give a mandate to MECON, so that MECON will ensure its participation in the development of the State.

The CM assured the officials to take appropriate decisions in this direction. Senior Manager Power, MECON Shahnawaz Ahmed was present on the occasion.

Officials of Jharkhand State Gramin Bank met the CM and said that there are 443 Grameen Bank branches in the State. Financial assistance is being provided by the bank to the self-help organizations. T

he Chairman of Jharkhand State Rural Bank, Sunil Jode and Assistant General Manager R.N. Sinha urged that the State government cooperate in further strengthening the bank. The CM assured the bank officials to cooperate in strengthening the bank.
