Dehradun region witnesses improvement of 9.65%

The Dehradun region of the Central Board of Secondary Education which witnessed a reduction in number of schools this year following re- organisation of areas under jurisdiction witnessed an appreciable increase in pass percentage in the results of All India Senior School Certificate (AISSCE) examination (Class XII) declared on Monday.

The region showed an increment of 9.65 percent this year as compared to last year. In the year 2019, the Dehradun region had a pass percentage of 73.57 which jumped to 83.22 percent this year.  The regional officer of CBSE Dehradun Ranbir Singh said that the performance of the region assumes significance as the many schools of NOIDA and other districts of Uttar Pradesh were removed from Dehradun region.

 The region now covers all 13 districts of Uttarakhand and eight districts of Uttar Pradesh.

Badaun, Bijnor, Jyotiba Phule Nagar, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Sambhal and Rampur are the eight districts of UP which are under the jurisdiction of Dehradun region of CBSE.The data of CBSE shows that 61994 students were enrolled for class XII examination this year out of which 61245 appeared in the examination. The reorganisation resulted in a decrease in the number of schools this year in the Dehradun region. As compared to 1201 schools of last year, the region has only 764 schools this year. Out of these schools 461 are in Uttarakhand while 303 are in eight districts of UP.

 In the year 2018-19 a total of 124654 students had enrolled themselves for class XI examination in Dehradun region out of who 122433 appeared in the examination. The girl students outshined boys again this year. In Dehradun region the girls had a pass percentage of 87.02.
