nSrikant Mishra, a youth from Kendrapada, has helped several youths from the district stranded in Dubai to reach native village. For his noble work, he has won accolades from all quarters.
Mishra, a resident of Kumartanka village under Aul block, is working as a senior marine surveyor at Eastern Maritime Compancy LLC in UAE. He came forward to help a 28-year-old ailing youth , Abhaya Das, of Dhanamandal village under Aul block, who lost his job and failed to return to his village from Dubai.
Abhaya fell sick two months back and spent all his savings in treatment in Dubai. His widow mother, Hemalata Das, made a fervent appeal in social media seeking help for her son, who was in deep trouble.
When the matter came to the notice of Mishra, he immediately came to his rescue.
“I booked a flight ticket and also provided some money to Abhaya for his return to Aul. I asked Abhaya to get proper treatment and repay his debt. Abhaya is going to fly to India on July 31,” said Mishra.
According to Pramod Kumar Mallick, an intellectual person and social worker of Aul, Mishra is a jewel for the locality. He helped several youths, who were struggling in Dubai.
Recently, Mishra helped a local youth Manoj Sahu of Dhanamandal village by arranging a flight ticket and also providing financial help of Rs 46,000 for treating his cancer-afflicted mother.
It’s a rare gesture by Mishra to come to the aid of so many people in distress, said Sub Collector Jyotishankar Mohapatra.
