The Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj has said that his department would request the state government to reduce the mandatory seven days of quarantine period to three days for the tourists who reach the state without the Covid-19 negative test report.
Talking to the media persons, he said that the reduction of the quarantine period would ensure less hassles to the tourists.
He said that the carrying capacity of the Char Dhams should be calculated keeping in view the social distancing norms due to Covid-19 pandemic and pilgrims be allowed to visit these shrines.
On Indo Nepal relations, the minister said that the two countries have strong relations which are ages old and both the countries have deep rooted cultural links.
He expressed confidence that the recent strain in relations would have no impact over the ambitious Pancheshwar Dam project on Sharada (Mahakali) river in Nepal. The minister said that the mega Rs 31000 Crore project would produce 5040 MW of electricity. A lake about 80 km in length would be created by the project. He said that the project brings with it unlimited opportunities for people of two nations.
