Saturday, 04 April 2020 | PNS | Lucknow

Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda asked party leaders from Uttar Pradesh to help the poor and destitute at a time when India and the world was fighting a decisive battle against the spread of coronavirus.

During a video-conferencing with BJP leaders from the state, Nadda said, “The governments at the Centre and in UP have launched several welfare schemes for the poor and destitute. Inform people about them. Help the numerous migrating workers kept at shelter homes. Provide them food and water and medical help, if necessary, immediately,” he said.

The BJP top leader said that party leaders should ensure that people wore mask and asked them to explain its importance to the masses.

“The women’s wing of BJP should be asked to stitch masks and these should be distributed among the poor free of cost,” he said.

Nadda was apprised that the BJP had so far provided lunch packets to over 40 lakh people and that party workers were working in sync with the government to ensure that people got essential commodities at maximum retail price.

BJP leaders of Uttar Pradesh who participated in the video conference included party state chief Swatantra Dev Singh, organising secretary Sunil Bansal, general secretaries and vice-presidents of the state unit.
