PNB loan for Gorakhpur Link Expressway

Punjab National Bank has provided a loan of Rs 750 crore for the Gorakhpur Link Expressway. This expressway will be linked with the Purvanchal Expressway.

The PNB had earlier provided a loan of Rs 2,300 crore for the Purvanchal Expressway.

The Bank of India has also provided a loan of Rs 1,000 crore for the Purvanchal Expressway.

PNB Chief General Manager Swrup Kumar Saha on Saturday presented the cheque of the sanctioned loan to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at his 5, Kalidas Marg official residence.

The general manager of the Bank of India also presented a loan cheque of Rs 1,000 crore to the chief minister for the Purvanchal Expressway.

Welcoming the officials of both the banks, the chief minister said the Gorakhpur Link Expressway and the Purvanchal Expressway would play a key role in the overall development of the eastern region of Uttar Pradesh. He said PNB being the lead bank of Gorakhpur would play an important role in the development of east UP.

The chief minister said on account of education and health, Gorakhpur was an important urban centre of eastern UP as people not only from the neighbouring state of Bihar but also Nepal visited the city. 

He said as many as five crore people would be benefited by the development of Gorakhpur and the construction of the link expressway and the Purvanchal Expressway would accelerate the development process of eastern UP.

He said in 2021 the AIIMS in Gorakhpur would be fully operational and the fertiliser plant which was lying closed for several decades would also be operational soon.

The chief minister said the work was on in full swing on three expressways. The Gorakhpur link expressway passing through Azamgarh will link the city with Lucknow.

He said the link expressway would reduce the journey time to Varanasi.

The chief minister said the preparation of the detailed project report of the Ganga Expressway was in final stage. He said the completion of the three expressways would immensely improve the connectivity and would also add to further improvement in investment climate in the state.
