Satya Nagar declared ‘containment zone’

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday declared the city’s Satya Nagar area as a ‘containment zone’ as at least four persons of the locality tested positive for COVID-19.

The BMC restricted people from entering into and going out of the area.

The localities, which come under the containment zone, included Satya Nagar Square to Kali Temple Square, Patanjali Store to Bank of India Officers’ Quarters, Kali Temple Square to Patanjali Store, Bank of India Officers’ Quarters to Satya Nagar Square via Missionary of Charity and Axis Bank, the Satya Nagar Area to the south of Big Bazaar Road and PWD Division-3 Office and quarter complex

“The recent positive cases of COVID-19 detected in Satya Nagar area of Bhubaneswar with no recent travel history neither to any other country nor any part of India; and to contain any possible spread of COVID-19, it is necessary to make the affected area as a containment zone and to restrict public from entering into and going out of the containment zone,” the BMC said in an order.

All the inhabitants within the containment zone should strictly remain at homes. All the shopping establishment of whatsoever nature should be closed immediately. Supply of essential commodities and medical requirements would be ensured through various teams formed by the BMC, the order stated.

The BMC would supply essentials and ensure medical requirements in the containment zones. The inhabitants can call the Helpline No. 1929 for any complaints, it added.

The civic body in a tweet also said,” It is found that one of the COVID-19 positive cases used to visit the OMFED stall opposite the Toshali Bhawan frequently. We've sealed the area and request citizens who've visited the place in last 14 days to stay in home quarantine and call Helpline No. 104 in case of any COVID symptoms.”

Earlier, the BMC had declared the Surya Nagar, Bomikhal, Sundarpada and Jadupur areas of the capital city as COVID-19 containment zones. However, the Health and Family Welfare Department in its update on Wednesday (9 am), said that out of a total of  2,441 samples tested, positive cases were 42, active cases 39, persons under hospital isolation 91, two recovered and one death.
