Chandigarh Police starts mob control course

The Chandigarh Police started its four weeks anti riot/mob control course for greater and humane approach efficiency at the country’s lone training centre at Meerut based RAF Academy for Public Order (RAPO). A total of 103 Chandigarh Police personnel comprising of 68 male and 35 female reported for the course at RAPO who will be trained under guidance of Vivek Vaid IG RAF following the strict covid protocols. During the inaugural function of the course on Monday various law and order situation like the infamous Ram Rahim violence, Law & order situation of Haryana, Punjab, Delhi  NCR arising in the wake of farmers’ protest were discussed with the trainees.

 “The police personnel have been specifically selected from various police stations of Chandigarh Police for training at RAPO. A total seven trainees are post graduate, 66 are graduate and rest of them is class 12th pass. Interestingly total 76 trainees are below 30 years while other above 30 years and we are once again delighted to impart them training on mob and crowd control without harming anyone physically. That is the art and beauty of this exclusive training and we have gained an expertise in this. Several State police and even international police force have received such a training from this Centre,” said DIG RAPO Akhilesh Kumar Singh.

Various modules of course along with topics to be taught include anti-riot/mob control training, Public Order Management, Riot control weapons & Equipment,  less lethal weapons, TSM & grenades, special vehicles i.e. Varun, Vajra, fire tenders, newly under trial vehicles developed by CSIR Durgapur, latest developments in weapons / equipment including new age weapons & munitions, use of drone during Public Order situation, emerging trends of public order management, Mob Psychology,  rules of engagement,  Various formations, latest international / National case studies on riot control, Riot control techniques and different types of cordon were highlighted and discussed in details.
