The first rain of the season have exposed the dhanbad municipal corporation(DMC) of its failure in cleaning choked drains within the municipal limits. Several low line areas have flooded with rain water not only in the main town but in Sindri, Katras and Jharia circles of the corporation owing to blockage of drains.
The failure of the corporation in cleaning the choked drain ahead of monsoon has not only flooded road and low line areas with rain water but so has affected movement of traffic in such areas.
Besides common persons who pay both the property tax as well as user tax for lifting of garbage the MLA of Dhanbad and former ward councillors too have complaints of delay in drain cleaning.
Dhanbad MLA Raj Sinha visited several rain water flooded localities on Wednesday late evening to take stock of the situation.
Talking to media after inspecting Tapovan colony Sinha said ,the municipal commissioner Satyendra Kumar has been apprised of the situation of different locations. He has assured us that the drains will be cleared soon.
Sunil Kumar of Hansa Vihar colony too has requested to get the drain cleaned. A similar request has been made by Guddu Singh of Bartand middle school road. Guddu said, the drain remains half constructed thus even slight rain causes water logging on the road for long hours.
People.of Sindri and Katras areas too have filed complaints of waterlogging on roads due to choked drains.
Former ward Councillor Ashok Pal said, narrow and poor quality construction is the main reason for choking of drains . We had been raising these questions while work was on but no one listened to our grievances. This is one of the reasons why people are facing problems.
