A man who visited the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Paton here to get an anti-rabies vaccine was administered a Covid-19 vaccine instead, source said, claiming that the man had already received both the doses of Covid-19 vaccine and the jab administered to him here on Saturday was a third dose.
Civil surgeon Palamu Anil Kumar said he has directed the medical officer in charge of the CHC at Paton Dr Amit Azad to find out how such a mistake happened.
The man, Raju Singh, 51, is a tractor driver and comes from village Naudeeha and he wanted his first injection of anti-rabies on Saturday at this CHC. He, however, unwittingly stood in the line meant for the Covid vaccine and thus got the shot of Covid vaccine for the third time.
Azad said the man had his OPD ticket with his prime complaint written there as dog bite. Raju Singh did not produce this ticket to the vaccination desk nor the vaccination desk bothered to ask him a few important questions like is this the first dose, is this the second dose or what vaccine he has taken Covaxin or Covishield.
Raju missed his anti-rabies shot and instead took additional unwanted third shot of the Covid vaccine.
Sources said it is now the prime task of the CHC to get this man administered anti-rabies shot as it has been more than four days or so that he was bitten by a canine.
Sources said Raju Singh on Saturday used the phone number of another villager Mithilesh Kumar of Golna village and this could perhaps lead to his twice vaccinated data not reflecting the dashboard of people vaccinated.
The vaccination desk found a newcomer but carelessness and negligence on the part of the vaccination desk were too loud and clear as it was the desk’s responsibility to ensure that they were administering the right vaccine to the man.
Raju Singh is said to be all fit and fine, said Mithilesh Kumar whose cell phone number Raju used only to get in a vaccine mess up.
