Rural Development Dept launch ‘JASHN’

In order to improve the health and nutritional status of the State, the Department of Rural Development, Government of Jharkhand on Tuesday launched the JASHN Project, which stands for a Joint Action for Sustainable Health. Rural Development Secretary, Dr Manish Ranjan launched the project online.

On this occasion, Ranjan said that this project is needed by everyone in the era of Covid to improve their immunity system. “Keeping everyone safe is the priority of the State Government so that the department has launched the project. Through this program efforts would be made to improve the nutritional and health standards of pregnant women and children,” he said.

Addressing the gathering on this occasion, DG, State Nutrition Mission, DK Saxena said that there is a need to work on many parameters like health, nutrition in the State to improve health facilities. He said that there is hope the JASHN project will be successful to improve healthcare facility in the State and programmes like Jashn will be very useful in the State because of the large numbers of people affected with malnutrition and anaemia.

Speaking on this occasion, Director Social Welfare, A Dodde said that the goal of the Jashn project can be achieved only through convergence. “Malnutrition and anemia are major problems in the State and there is a need to work effectively to deal with this problem so that the people of the State become stronger,” he added.

In its first stage the Jashn project will be implemented in 31 blocks of 14 districts of the State. This project will be run under Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana, National Rural Livelihood Mission.

Dodde said that the work will be done to improve the condition of malnutrition and health in 31 blocks of 14 districts of the State so that the problem of malnutrition and anemia could be addressed. He said that work will be done by focusing on motherhood, child, food diversity and nutrition so that the new born baby should be healthy. The cooperation of women of Sakhi Mandal will be taken to ensure the success of the project, he added.
