As the political pitch in neighbouring West Bengal has intensified for Assembly elections scheduled in mid this year, the BJP central unit has roped in workers from Bihar and Jharkhand in West Bengal. Thousands of BJP workers from Jharkhand are presently camping in West Bengal helping local BJP leaders in strengthening organization.

State BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said, “BJP workers from State are presently camping in bordering districts of Bengal.

The workers are assisting local Bengal leaders in strengthening organization.”  Shahdeo claimed that once the election dates are announced more BJP leaders will visit Bengal helping local leaders in booths management and other election related exercises.

Senior BJP leaders from the State including union tribal affairs minister Arjun Munda, former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi and others have addressed election rallies in bordering districts of Bengal. As many bordering districts of Bengal including Purulia, West Midnapore, Bankura have sizeable tribal population. The BJP central committee has roped in these tribal leaders to reach out to tribal voters in Bengal.

Last month BJP legislature party leader and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi addressed a rally in North Bengal Raiganj district. Marandi, addressing a sizeable rally targeted Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her appeasement politics,

saying that Didi is so deep rooted and cautious of her appeasement policy that she starts hating lord Rama and Lord Krishna. Similarly, Arjun Munda too had addressed rallies in Bengal.

Not lagging behind, State chief minister and JMM working president Hemant Soren last month rekindled the hope of a greater Jharkhand while launching the party's West Bengal assembly poll campaign from Jhargram, the tribal dominated hinterland. Soren had also attacked BJP saying that it was a calculated move by the Centre to fool the tribals creating two separate states - Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh while nurturing the tribal aspirations of their own homeland.

Sources said that as election date gets nearer the frequency of visit of Jharkhand BJP leaders to Bengal will intensify as more leaders will visit and camp in Bengal.

Meanwhile, in other development State BJP observed Bharatiya Jana Sangh leader Deendayal Upadhyaya's death anniversary as Samarpan Diwas.  On the occasion, the state BJP leaders heard message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Delhi. Modi on the occasion threw light on contribution of Deendayal Upadhyaya in nation building.

At BJP office the party leaders paid floral tributes to the portrait of Deendayal Upadhyaya.
