Friday, 31 December 2021 | PNS | Chandigarh

After the success of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Chandigarh civic body elections in which it won 14 seats, a victory march led by Delhi chief minister and party supremo Arvind Kejriwal was taken out in various parts of the city.

Kejriwal's Vijay Yatra started from Aroma Chowk in Sector 22 and ended in Sector 23 in which a large number of AAP supporters, including Prem Garg AAP Chandigarh President, Pradeep Chhabra co-In-charge, Harmohan Dhawan former Union Minister, Chandramukhi Sharma party in-charge for Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections, along with all the 14 elected councillors participated.

During the Vijay Yatra, Kejriwal thanked the people of Chandigarh for their support to AAP in the municipal elections and said that the results of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation are being discussed all over the country. He said that there is a discussion going on in the country that after Delhi, when AAP can uproot the Congress and the BJP which has been ruling Chandigarh for a long time, then AAP can do the same in the whole country.

"I heartily thank every citizen here for this resounding victory of AAP and promise that we will never let that trust be broken. The love that Chandigarh residents have given, we will never let it go and will live up to all the expectations,” he said.  In his address, he told the elected councillors of AAP that it was not so easy to defeat the BJP and Congress, which have been in Chandigarh for a long time and the country's oldest parties. But after defeating them, now their responsibility has increased, and work will have to be done keeping the trust shown by the people.

Kejriwal said that the city of Chandigarh must be given back the tag of 'City Beautiful' and make it the most beautiful city in the country. He also administered oath to all the councillors present on the occasion for the development of the city and the betterment of the residents and allegiance to the party. Kejriwal said that after winning Delhi, he won the municipal elections of Chandigarh, similarly he will come to Chandigarh to administer an oath after securing a historic victory in the Punjab Legislative Assembly elections.

AAP MP Bhagwant Mann said that the residents of Chandigarh have changed history. He said AAP does not do politics of hatred and religion but does politics based on development.
