Though Sandeep aur Pinky Faraar released in March, it is gradually climbing up the popularity charts now

Over the last couple of weeks, people have been calling Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra starrer Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar a ‘true hidden gem of a film’. While the film had a lukewarm release on OTT platform Amazon Prime, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar (SAPF) is now being thoroughly appreciated by the audience and its IMDB ratings doubled overnight with fans heaping praises on Dibakar Banerjee’s gritty crime thriller.

Arjun’s performance has played a huge role in the success of the film, essentially surprising everyone with his formidable performance as a Haryanvi cop named Pinky Dahiya. He thanked Dibakar for his vision in making him a part of the film and utilising him to wreak havoc in the life of ambitious Delhi girl Sandeep, effectively played by Parineeti. “This will always be a special film in my career. It pushed me to experiment and get out of my comfort zone and I’m glad that it is paying dividends for me. As we all know, Dibakar is a visionary director and he created a world that was raw, unhinged and highlighted the underbelly of Delhi. I will always be grateful that he deemed me apt to be a part of this world and made me the vehicle of chaos in the film,” expressed Arjun.

He further added, “There comes a stage in an actor’s life where one has to walk the path less travelled to make a different kind of mark and, for me, SAPF will always be that film. I’m grateful for the love that the film and my character are getting. I was like an apprentice under Dibakar for three months before we started shooting and it shows in the film. He has extracted the best out of me and I will be indebted to him for his belief.”
