BJP takes a dig at Finance Minister's statement on VAT

Sunday, 01 May 2022 | PNS | Ranchi

BJP State President cum Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash has criticized Jharkhand Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon's statement expressing his inability to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel. Prakash said that the Finance cum Food Supplies Minister of the State says that why should the State bear this extra burden? His statement is completely ridiculous and shameful.

Prakash has said that the Jharkhand government has no shortage of funds for luxury vehicles and luxurious bungalows for CM and ministers, nor is it extravagant. The purchase of gleaming and new luxury vehicles like Mercedes Benz, Land Rover Discovery, BMW etc for the Chief Minister and Ministers is not an extra expenditure in the eyes of the government, but when it comes to giving relief to the people of the state, the poor, then the the Jharkhand government starts counting its inabilities.

The MP said that the Jharkhand government is unable to pay for electricity at all. The people of the State are not even able to get the vaccine. DMFT funds are being misused. It can be said that the Hemant Soren government has left the State after dividing it due to economic mismanagement.

Prakash said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while talking to the Chief Ministers of the states, had talked about giving relief to the public by suggesting to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel, but the Jharkhand government is paying no heed to the plea. The Jharkhand government is cheating the public by not reducing VAT. Just as the Central government has reduced the excise duty, in the same way, the Jharkhand government should reduce the VAT immediately, so that the common people can get relief.

Meanwhile, BJP State General Secretary Aditya Sahu reacted strongly to the statement of JMM General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya and said that JMM was shocked to see its sinking boat. This is clearly visible in its leaders’ statements.

He said that the JMM was not telling how the CM got the mining lease in his own name by misusing the power and position. While being the Industries Minister himself, he allotted industrial land in the name of his wife. Mining lease was also allotted in the name of his MLA representative Pankaj Mishra, his press advisor Abhishek Pintu.
