5G lab to be set up in IIIT-A

A 5G network laboratory will be set up in the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A). Giving this information, Director Prof Mukul Sharad Sutaone said on Friday that in line with the budget announcement of the government with an aim to create proficiency and engagement in 5G technologies for the students and startup communities, the Department of Telecom is setting up 100 5G deployment centres in higher educational institutions across all States/UTs to facilitate development, experimentation. The IIIT-Allahabad is one of the centres finalised by DoT.

All proposals were invited for setting up laboratories in which 5G application cases can span across various socio-economic sectors, including education, agriculture, health, power, urban management, mining, logistics, resource management, tourism, sports, security, e-governance etc.

Dr Sanjay Singh, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of the institute, Dr Sunil Yadav and his team designed 5G technology to work in the field of agriculture, which was accepted by the Department of Telecommunications (DOT). Dr Sanjay Singh said that IIIT-A has made its place among 100 institutions of the country in setting up laboratories. He said the benefit of the 5G laboratory is to reach out to students and industrial institutions, small scale industries and startup organisations. BTech and MTech students are to be involved in projects related to 5G technology. He said there will be coordination between academia and entrepreneurs to expand and utilise 5G technology. He said startups and small scale industries in the country have to be connected with 5G laboratories. The responsibility of establishing and running this project in the institute will be done by Dr Sunil Yadav and his team. Necessary facilities like laboratory, power supply, internet and intranet connectivity, other equipment, technical-manpower (for local maintenance) etc will be provided by the institute. All the instruments installed in this laboratory will be indigenously manufactured. On behalf of the institute, Dr Radhika Gaur, Pawan Kumar and Saurabh Jain demonstrated their model in the India Mobile Congress (IMC) held at Pragati Maidan, Delhi. The institute will play an important role in the field of digital transformation.

EXTENDED: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission has extended the date of application for APS (Additional Private Secretary) Recruitment Examination-2023. Now applications can be made till November 2. Similarly, applications for direct recruitment can also be made till November 2. Earlier, the Public Service Commission had fixed October 26 as the last date to apply online for both the recruitments. The Public Service Commission had issued recruitment advertisement in September for 328 posts of APS and 84 posts of direct recruitment, for which online applications are being taken. OTR (One Time Registration) has been made mandatory in applying for the recruitment examinations of the commission.

MISHAP: A 26-year-old youth died after being hit by a car in Daranagar town under Kadhadham police station area of Kaushambi. The car rider fled from the spot towards Prayagraj. On the complaint of the victim’s family, the police registered a case against the unknown car driver and started investigation in the matter. Jagjit Kumar of Najju Pura village of Kadhadham used to work as a labourer.
