AIIMS Bhopal celebrates second research showcase event

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhopal (AIIMS, Bhopal) celebrated its second Research Showcase Event today at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Auditorium of the Institute. This annual event is dedicated to highlighting the remarkable progress made by the institute in the field of research and innovation over the past year.

The event was graced by the presence of distinguished guests and dignitaries, including Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh, Executive Director AIIMS, Bhopal, extended a warm welcome to all attendees.

Prof. Singh emphasized the institute's unwavering commitment to "treatment with research" and the pursuit of evidence-based medicine, ensuring that research findings reach patients, thus spearheading advancements in healthcare and outreach activities. He stated that Integrated Health Clinic is fully functional exclusively at AIIMS, Bhopal.

Chief Guest of the event Prof. Rabinarayan Acharya, DG, Central Council of Research in Ayurveda Sciences (CCRAS), stressed that Ayurveda, one of the world's oldest holistic healing systems, has a significant role to play in managing lifestyle diseases. Ayurveda's focus on balance in the body and mind, personalized treatment plans, and the use of herbal medicines can provide effective solutions to modern health issues. Traditional medicine systems, have established methods to detect and address metal toxicity through purification processes and detoxification therapies. He suggested that collaboration between AIIMS, Bhopal and CCRAS could lead to innovative solutions using traditional healing practices for various diseases and wound healing.

In his keynote address, Prof. Abbas Ali Mehdi, Vice Chancellor of Era University, Lucknow, shed light on the profound impact of the environment on human health. He commended the event as a mesmerizing showcase of research and expressed his belief that these groundbreaking research initiatives, under the visionary leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Ajai Singh, will revolutionize healthcare in the future.

Dr. Sunil Malik, President of AIIMS, Bhopal, spoke about the Government of India's initiative to create a National Research Foundation to promote research. This initiative aims to eliminate funding constraints and promote socially relevant research endeavors.

Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Kumar Gupta, Vice Chancellor of RGPV, highlighted the need for multidisciplinary efforts to strengthen the trust between healthcare providers and patients. He encouraged students, especially undergraduates, to make the most of the world-class facilities available at AIIMS, Bhopal.

Prof. Debasis Biswas, (Dean Research), presented a comprehensive research report for the past one year, showcasing over 132 ongoing research projects. In the field of Intellectual Property Rights AIIMS, Bhopal received two copyright whereas applications for seven patents and one copyright are currently under consideration.

The event featured enlightening presentations, including Dr. Saikat Das's discussion on the collaboration between traditional Indian medicine and modern medical practices at AIIMS, Bhopal, and Dr. Adesh Srivastava's insights into AI initiatives at the institute.
