 ‘Wrestlers must get justice’, demands Hooda

New Delhi/Chandigarh: Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Congress leader Udit Raj were among the leaders who visited Jantar Mantar on Tuesday to extend their support to the protesting wrestlers. Top Indian wrestlers including Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik are protesting against Wrestling Federation Of India (WFI) President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh for allegedly sexually assaulting women wrestlers. They are demanding that FIR must be registered against Singh.

3 cops injured as tractor collides with PCR van in Haryana BJP chief’s convoy in Gurugram

Gurugram/Chandigarh: Three police personnel were injured after a tractor-tanker collided with a PCR van that was part of Haryana BJP president OP Dhankar’s convoy near Himgiri Chowk, police said on Tuesday. The tractor-tanker driver allegedly came on the wrong side of the road which led to the accident, they added. According to a complaint filed by Pradeep Kumar, who was on pilot duty with Dhankar’s convoy, the incident took place near Himgiri Chowk around 10 pm on Monday. After the collision, the tractor overturned and the PCR van was badly damaged. All three police personnel were injured, the complaint added. Kumar said the driver of the tractor fled after the incident and the vehicle did not have a number plate.

Citizens will get 10% rebate on property tax payments made till July 31: Minister

Chandigarh: Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Kamal Gupta on Tuesday said that citizens will get a rebate of 10% on property tax payments made in ULB units till July 31 during the financial year 2023-24. He directed the officers to run an awareness campaign to make the public aware of this initiative so that a maximum number of people can avail of the rebate. Gupta held a meeting regarding the Nagar Darshan Portal, Svamitva Yojana, Swachata, Property ID and other schemes with officers of Urban Local Bodies in Sonipat.

 Power distribution companies of Hry outperformed by achieving A+ grade at National Level

Chandigarh: Haryana Energy Minister Chaudhary Ranjit Singh on Tuesday said that both the power distribution companies of Haryana have outperformed by achieving A+ grade at the National Level. He said that 'Bijli Chori Ka Abhiyan' and 'Mhara Gaon Jagmag Gaon' yojana have made a special contribution in this achievement by enhancing the revenue of the department. He said that the Haryana government is making strenuous efforts to provide uninterrupted electricity to all its consumers. The Energy Minister informed that the Union Ministry of Power has recently released the 11th Integrated Annual Report of the Power Distribution Utilities in which both (UHBVN and DHBVN) have significantly improved their positions. The current report covered 43 state discoms, 8 private discoms and 12 electricity connections from across India.
 
Patwari held for taking Rs 5000 bribe in Panchkula

Chandigarh: Haryana Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday caught a Halqa Patwari Narender Kumar posted at Halqa Dandlawar district Panchkula for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000. A spokesperson of the ACB said the accused Patwari has been arrested on the complaint of Sher Singh, a resident of village Badagarh in  Panchkula district. In another incident, ACB has caught an Exemptee Assistant Sub Inspector (EASI) Dayanand posted at Tosham police station in Bhiwani district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000.

Problems related to property ID will be resolved soon: Chautala

Chandigarh: Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Tuesday said that problems related to Property ID will be resolved soon. The officers of the concerned departments should ensure to provide services to the citizens in a time-bound manner, he added. The Deputy CM said this while interacting with the citizens and hearing grievances during his visit to Fatehabad. He directed the officers of the concerned department to solve the problems mentioned in the demand letters handed over by various gram panchayats and institutions. He directed the officers present on the spot to organize special camps in order to resolve the issues related to property ID.

Punjab CM unveils book showcasing Govt’s pro-people initiatives

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday unveiled a book showcasing the pro-people initiatives of the State Government’s various departments. Releasing the book compiled by the efforts of Barnala Deputy Commissioner Punamdeep Kaur, Mann lauded the excellent initiative, saying that the book ‘Pahunch’ will help people a lot by making them aware of the state government’s pro-people initiatives. The book highlights 285 schemes of the government’s 44 departments which are benefitting the common man. The Chief Minister appealed to all the Deputy Commissioners to take such steps in their respective districts also.

Punjab VB nabs tehsil clerk for taking Rs 4,500 bribe

Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) on Tuesday nabbed a clerk Harjeet Singh, posted at Tehsil office, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda district, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4,500. VB spokesperson said that this case has been registered on the complaint of Gursewak Singh of Jaga Ram Tirath village in Bathinda district who alleged that the said clerk demanded Rs 10,000 in lieu of issuing his marriage certificate. He further alleged that upon his request, the deal has been struck at Rs 6,000 and the accused had already taken Rs 1,500 as a first instalment of bribe and demanding the remaining money.

Punjab Govt clarifies, revenue helpline no. mentioned inadvertently

Chandigarh: To facilitate the residents of the State to track their revenue record, a helpline number 8184900002 was launched by the Punjab Government a few days back, which was inadvertently mentioned as 8194900002. Government spokesperson said that the inconvenience caused in this regard is regretted. The people can take benefit of the Revenue helpline by dialing 8184900002.
