Rohtak-Delhi NH in Jhajjar blocked for 2 hours as part of Haryana bandh
 

Chandigarh: Khap members and farmers blocked the Rohtak-Delhi National Highway in Jhajjar district for about two hours as part of a 'Haryana Bandh' call given in support of protesting wrestlers, farmers and over other issues.  The blockade was lifted after over two hours following assurance to the protesters that their demands will be taken up with the authorities concerned, officials said. Some protesters also tried to squat on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway but the police dispersed them from there. The strike call did not have any impact in other parts of Haryana and normal life remained unaffected.

Three lady cadets of Mai Bhago AFPI selected for pre-commission training at Air Force Academy

Chandigarh:  Three Lady Cadets of Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute (AFPI) for Girls, SAS Nagar (Mohali) have been selected for pre-commission training at the premier Indian Air Force Academy, Dundigal. The Training will be held from July 2023 onwards.  Lady Cadet Nivedita Saini hails from Pathankot while Lady Cadets Savleen Kaur and Haroop Kaur belong to SAS Nagar (Mohali).  Director of Mai Bhago AFPI Major General Jasbir Singh Sandhu, said that with this result, so far 26 Lady Cadets have joined various Armed Forces Training Academies.

Approval of 29 cases from Centre in Forest Land Diversion: Himachal CM

Shimla: Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday said that the state government had expedited the forest land diversion process to speed up developmental works by ensuring timely approval.  He said the Centre has given Stage-II approval in 29 cases in June month alone and formal orders in favour of the user agency regarding the diversion of forest land were also issued by the state government. There are 11 cases from the Public Works Department, 4 cases from the Police Department, as well as two each project of Jal Shakti, NHAI, education and agriculture departments and one each of ITBP, Municipal Corporation Shimla, Sainik Welfare, Home Guard, health, Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board. In total, the state government has issued formal orders in 46 cases over the past six months, marking significant progress in facilitating development, he added.
