Cong stages Satyagraha, attacks government

Monday, 27 March 2023 | PNS | Lucknow

The Uttar Pradesh Congress on Sunday staged a `Sankalp Satyagraha’ and termed the termination of the membership of former Congress president Rahul Gandhi as a conspiracy of the Narendra Modi government to dent Indian democracy.

Leading the thousands of angry Congressmen who staged day-long Sankalp Satyagraha at the martyr's memorial on the bank of river Gomti on Sunday, UP Congress president Brijlal Khabri and Congress Legislature Party leader Aradhana Mishra raised anti-government slogans on the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha. They made scathing attacks on the government.

It may be mentioned that in support of Rahul Gandhi's ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’ going on at Rajghat in Delhi, the Congressmen in all the districts of Uttar Pradesh extended their support by staging protests and raising anti-government slogans.

While addressing the ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’ here on Sunday morning, Khabri made a scathing attack on the Modi government and said that today Rahul Gandhi had to pay the price for speaking the truth fearlessly and with facts and raising the voice of the people.

“The morale of Congressmen is not going to be dampened by this. The Congress party will always raise the anti-people issues of this corrupt government,” he said.

He claimed that the UP Congress had geared up for a massive mass movement to expose each and every failure of the Modi government. “No matter how much atrocities the government commits, neither are we afraid, nor will we have any fear of the misuse of government machinery to silence our voices,” he asserted while attacking the BJP government over misuse of official machinery.

Addressing the Satyagraha, Aradhana Mishra said that none among Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi and Mehul Choksi belonged to the backward castes, still, by pretending to be backward, the Bharatiya Janata Party was trying to hide the nexus of these economic scamsters with the Central government. She alleged that the BJP could not tolerate exposure of their nexus with Adani, hence to silence Rahul Gandhi, they managed to get him disqualified from Parliament.
