Sunday, 24 September 2023 | PNS | Lucknow

A doctor posted at a community health centre in Sultanpur was allegedly beaten to death on Saturday over a land related dispute.

Ajay Narayan Singh, who has been accused of the doctor’s murder, is the nephew of Bharatiya Janata Party’s former district president Girish Narayan Singh, also known as Babban Singh.

Dr Ghanshyam Tiwari (53) of Shastri Nagar was posted at Jaisinghpur community health centre. On Saturday, he stepped out for some work. Later in the evening, an auto-rickshaw driver dropped him off outside his house in a critical condition and fled.

“Ajay Narayan Singh, who lives in Narayanpur, physically assaulted my husband, leading to his death,” Ghanshyam’s wife alleged, citing a land related dispute behind the killing.

“My husband came to the house in the evening, took Rs 3,000 from me and said it was for a person making a map. He left the house after having some snacks. Later, he was dropped off by a rickshaw in an injured state,” she said.

Tiwari had purchased a land parcel located behind Saraswati Shishu Mandir and there was commotion over it every day, she added.

Meanwhile, former MLA Devmani Dwivedi and BJP district president Dr RA Verma reached the hospital and demanded strict action against the accused.

Further investigations are on.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party and Congress attacked the government over law and order.

The SP tweeted, “Jungle raj prevalent in UP! BJP leader’s nephew beats doctor to death! Dr Ghanshyam Tiwari was brutally beaten to death by the nephew of a BJP leader in Sultanpur, extremely sad! Chief Minister, when will your bulldozer run on the properties of the accused? When will the victim’s family get justice?”

The UP Congress tweeted that Dr Ghanshyam Tiwari, posted at a CHC in Sultanpur, was beaten to death by criminals. Then the body was loaded on a rickshaw and sent to the deceased’s house. The UP Congress added, “Ajay Narayan Singh, who is prominent among the murderers who committed this murder, is said to be the nephew and brother of a top BJP leader of the district. It is evident! This criminal power will only be protected.”

Meanwhile in Kheri, the body of a girl was found hanging from a tree outside the village on Saturday evening.

The girl’s family accused two people from the village of raping and murdering her and hanging her body on a tree to make it a case of suicide.

On the basis of their complaint, the police have registered a case against the two accused.

A 17-year-old girl of a village in Kheri police station area had gone to attend the call of nature on Saturday morning. When she did not return for a long time, her family members started searching for her. After a lot of search, her body was found hanging from an acacia tree in a sugarcane field later in the evening. As soon as information about the body was received, the villagers reached the spot. A noose of scarf was tied around the girl’s neck.

With the help of villagers, the family members brought down the body of the girl. After receiving the information, the police arrived and started an investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem.

The brother of the deceased accused Awadhesh, Rajesh of the village of raping and murdering his sister and hanging the body from a tree.
