The Odisha Scheduled Tribe & Scheduled Caste Development Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Department on Thursday signed an MoU with the Karadi Path Education Company, a Chennai-based English skills partner. The collaboration aims to bridge the English literacy gaps prevalent among tribal students in Odisha, which is home to 62 distinct tribes and an approximately 23% tribal population.
This initiative will focus on empowering ST and SC students enrolled in government-run English-medium Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) and English medium schools under the Anwesha scheme.
Department Secretary Roopa Roshan Sahoo expressed her vision to "craft a sustainable learning model that could potentially influence policy reform." To facilitate this vision, the department has engaged Mantra4Change, a social organisation committed to transforming the public education system.
