Govt enhances digital infra to boost digital learning

Thursday, 16 November 2023 | PNS | Lucknow

The Yogi Adityanath government has given a boost to digital learning in the state by enhancing infrastructure for digital learning in council schools, and composite and Kasturba Gandhi schools.

Each development block in these schools is set to establish an ICT lab along with a smart class setup. Additionally, corporate social responsibility (CSR), community participation and other mediums are being utilised to establish smart classes. Tablets will also be provided to teachers in council primary schools. Renowned institution experts are planning online sessions and streaming to enhance the development and knowledge of both teachers and children.

Preparations are underway to ensure effective classroom teaching using digital resources. Content assessment for subjects from classes 1 to 8 is being conducted by subject specialists from the State Council of Educational Research and Training, Uttar Pradesh. Utilising tools such as YouTube Live and Zoom sessions through tablets, ICT labs and smart classes will promote the use of distance education. Online sessions and streaming by experts from reputed institutions through digital mediums will enhance teachers’ capabilities and children’s knowledge.

ICT labs established at the development block and school levels will ensure that all children have adequate opportunities for practice. Rosters for 14 children each from classes 6 to 8 in the BRC campus school near schools are being prepared to provide daily practice opportunities. The Diksha app offers content related to 82 NCERT textbooks for classes 1 to 8, along with approximately 7,300 videos by the SCERT and NCERT.

To promote digital learning in the state, pocket booklets for teachers and students from classes 6 to 8 have been made available. Teachers can scan the QR codes to access important courses. Student pocket booklets provide daily education in maths, science, Hindi and English by scanning related QR codes. The Diksha app, through various development partners like Khan Academy, Embibe Institute, Teacher’s App, Read Along App, etc., is providing additional digital teaching materials, making classroom teaching engaging and effective.
