One of Chhattisgarh's oldest, Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Medical College in Raipur, has been granted additional 50 seats in the undergraduate MBBS course.
Thus, the number of admissions in the undergraduate medical education has been increased from 150 to 200 from the academic session 2023-24, an official statement said on Tuesday.
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has given the go ahead after an inspection of the faculty, infrastructure, hospital and other medical teaching requirements was done.
The NMC has permitted 30 additional seats for the economically weaker section students. There will now be a total of 50 seats.
The Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru Memorial Medical College, started in 1963, will celebrate its Diamond Jubilee this year.
The college has 150 post graduate (MD/MS) and super-speciality (MCh) courses in three disciplines.
